Sharing a creative life, one post at a time!

Monthly Archives: November 2008

sigh…I just love it when kids succeed! especially if they’ve struggled in the past! my littlest came running out to the car yesterday and was beaming from ear to ear……I saw the report card in her hand and was thinking “Oh good! she must have got a few A’s”…..well this is what she got……straight A’s!!!!!! I am soooooo proud of her and rightly let her know I was!!! Things don’t come easily to her, she gets frustrated very easily, but… she has a FANTASTIC teacher this year, the kind you wish you could duplicate and put in every classroom on the planet….lol. (just goes to show you the difference a great teacher can make!!)
She also became a self manager already within the first term, something that this school wasn’t doing until grade 7 in previous years but they have implemented it for the younger grades now (she’s in grade 5). Fabulous idea….it teaches them and/or reinforces,  oraganization and responsibility…two things that help with their general performance in class! I hope she continues with this success as she’s really worked hard for it!!!!

YUM! Have been playing a bit with thier Vintage Moon line….so cool….love it…especially that little owl, can he be any cuter!!!!!! lol

…enjoying his new bed and blankie! yes it’s pink/black leopard print (which you can see here) and he’s a boy but I really don’t think he cares….lol. It’s made by Whisker City and there are a few other styles in this color line. (You can find them at PetSmart). They make the “softest” cat beds and all my cats seem to LOVE them!! Some beds even come with their own “blankie”…lol….very handy to cover them or throw across the couch or on a chair…

….here is the flip album in Scrapbooking Fanatics November kit that I altered. So much fun!!!!! I need to add a few more photos but will take more recent ones to use!

and here are a few cards made with the kit as well….the bracket shaped mat was cut with SCAL and Cricut (pattern can be found here):

I have been playing around a little with Sure Cuts A Lot, my Cricut (V1) and Inkscape (for saving SVG files) and here are my first images to share with you all….I hope you enjoy them and I’d love to see how you use them!! (I suggest cutting this bird file no smaller than 4-3/4″ wide, will make it easier to pop out the cut swirled sections. If you cut it smaller you can leave in the swirled bits and ink over top of them for another unique embossed look!!).

Here’s a card I made using this bird pattern with Scrapbooking Fanatics Nov. kit, I simply cut a blackout version of the same sized file on blue cardstock and mounted one over the other. The box is a simple origami box made using the kit also.

….and here is another SVG file, the ever popular bracket shape, can be used as a photo mat, card accent, journaling spot or anything else you can think of….enjoy!

If you haven’t checked out the “Sure Cuts A Lot” program you should!!!!! I have the original Cricut and was up and cutting fonts in less than an hour once I read through the instructions!!

Here are a few layouts made using ScrapFans’ Nov Kit  plus a few goodies from my stash such as chipboard alphas, paint, inks and buttons…..

Here is a Halloween layout using mostly Li’l Davis Halloween supplies but the stamps in the upper left  (spiders) are from Heidi Grace’s new Halloween line…..too cute!!!!!! The word BOO is also from heidi Grace but I covered that with crackle paint so that the color would match!
This is my youngest, and last, trick or treater….boohoo!!! 😦 Two more years and she will be finished with that aspect of Halloween! She thought up this costume and idea all by herself, I just helped her put it together after she told me what she wanted…lol.
