I get a few questions about SCAL every once in while so I thought a FAQ section would be a good idea….if you have any questions regarding the use of Sure Cuts A Lot please post them here and I will do what I can to assist you! :)

1: What is Sure Cuts A Lot & How Do I use SVG Files?

It’s an easy to use software used to cut your True Type fonts and various shapes and dingbats on your Cricut Machine. No special cartridges are required. Works with your installed True Type fonts on your computer. Available for Windows and Macintosh.

You can also cut SVG  ( Scalable Vector Graphics )  files using Sure Cuts A Lot, simply purchase them, or download them, save them where you can find them on your PC  (if they have been zipped you will need to unzip them before proceeding by using a Zip utility ),  and then choose file\import SVG from the menu when SCAL is open. Once imported, resize them to your desired dimensions, load your machine with a cutting mat and paper and then choose “cut”.

2: How do I make my own SVG’s?
Without getting too technical…..I use various graphics editing programs to create my images such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator then use Inkscape to trace the bitmap if needed (use the path\trace bitmap menu ), from within Inkscape I can save the image as an SVG file. *If using photoshop a transparent background PNG sillouette type image works the best for this.
